Walt Maddox to Visit Atmore, Ala.

Walt Maddox, 2018 Alabama gubernatorial candidate, will visit Atmore, Ala. on Tuesday, November 28th at 5:30pm at The Club located on Highway 21.

The event is hosted by Councilwoman Susan Smith and other friends of Walt Maddox in the community.

Maddox announced on October 5th of this year that he would seek the office of governor for the state of Alabama. He stated in his announcement video that the state is currently in a crisis.

“Quality jobs that once provided a hope for a brighter future are now disappearing,” Maddox said. “In the past 7 years, solely because of politics, rural hospitals are closing and pediatricians are leaving our community.”

Maddox has faced a crisis before. As the mayor of Tuscaloosa, he led the city through the devastating tornado outbreak of 2011 that destroyed 12.5 percent of the city.

As governor, Maddox plans to create a New Covenant between our leaders in Montgomery and the people they serve.

“Pretending everything is okay is not okay,” Maddox said. “By placing results over rhetoric, we will forge a New Covenant that will make a real difference in the issues facing Alabamians.”

Maddox is currently serving his fourth term as Tuscaloosa’s 36th Mayor. He is a Tuscaloosa native and a graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is married to Stephanie and they have two children, Taylor and Eli.
