Tuscaloosa audit finds city spent money properly

A recent audit of Tuscaloosa’s usage of federal tornado-related recovery funds found that the city properly spent the money.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Inspector General found that the city of Tuscaloosa’s application of $43.9 million in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) dollars was appropriately applied to the areas of need.

“The city administered its CDBG-DR funds in accordance with HUD requirements,” said the audit report, dated Jan. 18.

The audit centered on the CDBG-DR allocation the city of Tuscaloosa received from HUD in March 2013.
