Walt Maddox reports $338,000 in campaign contributions

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox raked in $338,000 in campaign contributions in August, bringing the total for his campaign for governor to $1.7 million since he started raising money last year.

The Maddox campaign reported almost 800 individual contributions for the month, campaign communications director Chip Hill said.

“People across the state are picking up on the energy and excitement of the Maddox campaign and choosing to invest in new leadership in Alabama,” Hill said in a press release.

Maddox, the Democratic nominee, is still far behind Gov. Kay Ivey in total fundraising. Ivey raised $495,000 in August and has raised a total of $5.45 million.

Ivey’s campaign has also spent far more, a total of $5.2 million, and reported a balance of $338,000 to end the month of August.

The Maddox campaign has spent $1.3 million and showed a month-ending balance of $476,000.

Among the largest contributions for Maddox were $15,000 from Greenetrack Inc., of Eutaw.
