Ivey/Maddox spar over running and issues in first joint appearance

Orange Beach, AL (WKRG) – Well, it’s not a debate but it did come close to it at least for a second or two. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox meeting for the first time since the two became the top two candidates for Alabama governor. Ivey talking about her program to arm school resource officers and she also appeared to take a swipe at Walt Maddox for his affinity for running races.

“There are some people who think that running a few miles is a prerequisite for being governor of the state of Alabama. I say to ya’ I may never have run a marathon but I sure have won a lot of races,” said Governor Kay Ivey. Maddox says the governor should stick to real issues.
